In what is the fulfillment of a long-held vision, Peninsula High has proudly opened the Bradbury/Smith Gallery, a permanent gallery on our campus for the showcasing of our students' and community art. The Bradbury-Smith Gallery, named after former long-time Peninsula art educators David Bradbury and Pat Smith, serves as a space to showcase student artwork from the drawing & painting, photography, ceramics, and glass-blowing classes. Peninsula High has a long history of excellence and innovation in the visual arts, and the Bradbury/Smith Gallery honors that tradition and reflects our ongoing commitment to the visual arts in our learning community.
The gallery will allow our Visual Arts Department to host a variety of juried, topical, and media-based, and experimental shows through the year. Perhaps more important, it will allow for our students to interact with a gallery and art on a daily basis. As our gallery expands to include not only the exhibition of their work, but also real-world experience in roles as curator, preparatory, and critic.
