SHAKESPEARE’S BATTLES CRASH COURSE
Get a crash course in Shakespeare language and text, as well as basic armed stage combat. Students will get to study and work a Shakespeare scene with a classically trained Shakespeare actor, and then work with an SAFD-trained fight choreographer. Over the course of four sessions, students will learn block and choreograph some of Shakespeare’s iconic scenes, complete with combat choreography.
Open to incoming 9th through outgoing 12th graders from any school.
Students must attend all sessions to participate:
July 10, 3-6pm Study and analysis.
July 11, 3-6pm Combat basics and training.
July 17, 3-6pm Rehearsal and Blocking
July 18, 3-6pm Fight Choreography and integration
July 18, 630pm - Performance for the public.

KIRSTA PETERSON is a working actor, writer, director, and producer. She studied theater at New York University, the Stella Adler Studio, and Shakespeare at the Royal Academy in London. She has performed in and directed numerous Shakespeare productions and worked extensively in theater Off-Broadway.
IAN ROETTGER. An alumni of PVPHS, Ian has had the privilege to work with Mr. Cohen on numerous productions over the last decade. Some of his favorites are The Three Musketeers; Julius Caeser; and She Kills Monsters. Ian has also had the good fortune to teach at many other wonderful institutions across both the East and West Coast such as AMDA; Columbia; Trinity Rep; and Swordplay Stage Combat, New York’s oldest continuously running independent stage combat teaching organization.
