The Murder Room is a spoof of British whodunits that is meant to have audience members rolling in the aisles while cast members may be rolling each other into graves – or trying to, at least. A fabulous mystery farce concerning newly-weds Edgar and Mavis. Two days after their wedding Edgar discovers that Mavis – a nasty piece of work – is being unfaithful. After her first attempt to kill him by poisoning his cocoa kills the cat instead, Mavis resorts to cold-bloodedly shooting him and then returning to her lover. Chaos and complications reign when it transpires that the shots were blanks and that Edgar's body has vanished. Inspector Crandall is sent to investigate Edgar's disappearance. He finds there is more to the case than meets the eye – Constable Howard is also on the trail and tends to agree. Edgar's daughter Susan Hollister arrives to proudly show off her diploma and new fiance, Barry Draper. Learning of her father's disappearance, she teams up with the ditzy housekeeper Lottie Molloy to investigate with apparently hilarious results. (www.bizbooks.net)
