This weekend our family celebrated Mother’s Day in a different way. We Zoomed with our mothers in Idaho and Virginia. Then we picked up lunch from a restaurant and ate it in our backyard with the birds and the butterflies. We also baked brownies together. I decided that since my son is vegan, it was not kind to bake fresh yummy brownies that he could not eat. So we experimented with a recipe and after several tries, we were successful! All of us were able to eat some of the best brownies I have ever tasted. Did you celebrate Mother’s Day? Send me an email and tell me what you did this past weekend.
Some of my students tell me they are keeping busy with their academics and others complain that they are bored. Many of my students tell me they play video games in their free time. People can improve their language skills such as reading, following directions, solving problems, and learning new vocabulary words by playing video games. However, it is good to get away from our screens, especially now that we using our computers to participate in distance learning. So, here are some other language rich activities students can do at home.
It is not always easy to understand the fast pace of conversations that are filled with innuendo, sarcasm, and metaphors. Understanding indirect speech, like irony, idioms, and sarcasm allows people to react appropriately in social situations. You can review Activity 1 and 2 related to Interpreting Idioms and Sarcasm, and we will review this in your teletherapy session(s).
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am happy to help.
