Making the Most of Back-to-School Night
Back-to-School Night is a valuable opportunity to get an inside look at your student’s high school experience and to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Here are some tips to help you and your student make the most of the evening:
Before You Go
Review your student’s schedule and jot down any questions about classes or programs.
Bring a notebook or device to take notes on important information.
Talk with your student about their goals, interests, and any concerns for the year.
During the Event
Meet teachers and learn about expectations for each class, grading policies, and communication methods.
Ask about advanced courses, electives, CTE pathways, and college/career preparation opportunities.
Connect with school staff and other parents for tips and resources.
Explore key areas like the counseling office, career center, and extracurricular programs.
