INSTRUCTIONS

1. Freshmen must take 6 classes:
  - As a freshman you are required to take English, math, and physical education.
  - Select 3 other courses from social science, science, world language, and electives.
2. Refer to your teacher course recommendations from your intermediate school. Teacher recommendations are the strongest predictor of success. Log in to your student Aeries account to see these.
3. Some classes require a teacher recommendation or prerequisites to enroll. If you don't have these for a course you choose, you will need to complete a Request for Placement form. Parent/student requests for placement, which are exceptions to the stated placement criteria, shall be initiated by the student and/or parent/guardian completing the form and then shall be submitted to the counselor. A conference with the student and parent/guardian shall be held to review the request. If the request is granted, the student and parent/guardian shall be required to sign a waiver indicating that placement is probationary and dependent upon student success and performance.
4. The 2020-2021 Grade 9 Courses list the course IDs and course names of courses available to incoming freshmen.
5. The PVPHS Course Description Handbook 2020-2021 has course descriptions, course prerequisites and UC A-G information.
6. There is a space at the bottom of this form for you to add any comments for your high school counselor.
7. Your high school counselor will be following up with you requarding your course selections that you input in this form. They will work with you personally to get your schedule set for for the 2020-21 school year.
