Dance and Choreo General Information
Peninsula has three dance groups:
- Choreo Company
- Coed Choreo
- Intermediate Dance
Each of these groups require an audition and have one or more sub-teams such as Varsity or JV.
In addition, students can enroll in PE DANCE which requires no audition. This course follows the California state Dance standards, while combining both Physical Education and Dance. In the course students will get a hint of different dance forms - Ballet, Dance conditioning, Jazz, Modern, Cultural dances, and Hip-Hop. Students get the chance to explore different dance genres and learn how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
TRYOUT INFORMATION FOR ALL GROUPS
Students must have proof of current physical with them in order to participate in any sport tryouts
PE DANCE: No audition required. Course follows the California state Dance standards while combining both Physical Education and Dance.
INTERMEDIATE DANCE: Fun exciting course that takes a dancer to progress further with their dance technique. We explore different dance genres while also getting the chance to work on student choreography. We perform at various pep rallies, school assemblies, Momentum Dance show and Last Chance to Dance showcase at the end of the year. AUDITION REQUIRED
CHOREO COMPANY: This course takes the Advanced level dancer and explores their own self expression and practice how to teach choreo and bring their vision to the stage. Multiple performance opportunities with pep rallies, school assemblies, Momentum show and Last Chance to Dance show. AUDITION REQUIRED
DANCE TEAM AUDITION will take place the week of April 30-May 2. Workshop days- Wednesday April 30 and Thursday May 1 3:45-6pm Audition Day Friday May 2nd 3:30 to last group.
Please complete the DANCE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION and submit it by Friday April 25th
Audition Attire: Black workout attire- Top and bottoms, dance shoes, hair out of face.
