When a naked photograph of Scarlett gets sent to everyone in her small school and goes viral, she becomes the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. But as rumors run wild and everyone forms an opinion, Scarlett just stays silent.
Girls Like That is Evan Placey’s urgent and explosive play that explores the pressures on young people today in the wake of advancing technology. This play tackles the important subject of how teens are to cope in a world of digital immediacy, where everything is public and permanent.
I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday. Please take the time to read through this email and attachments.
Attached to this email, you will find the following items:
I will have additional copies of EmergencyForms and Student Contracts that I will be handing out at rehearsals next week.
We are flying on British Airways flight 282 out of LAX at 3:30pm on July 27.
Reminder, each student/family is responsible for getting themselves to and from LAX.
To accommodate check-in and security, I would like to meet at the Group Check-in for British Airways at 12:00pm on July 27. (3 hours is recommended for all International travel and a little extra time is suggested for groups)
We fly first from Edinburgh to Heathrow, and direct from Heathrow to LAX on August 10th. Our return flight is British Airways, flight 269, scheduled to land in Los Angeles at 7:20pm. (Note: if you are returning separate from the group, you will be contacted directly by AHSTF)
As you can see from documentation, while in London, we are staying at Bankside House, 24 Sumner Street, London SE1 9JA
In Edinburgh, as discussed, we are in Pollock Halls - University of Edinburgh student housing.
The attached itinerary is tentative and there have already been some adjustments to it that will be reflected in our final itinerary that we will receive on the ground, but it does give you a pretty good sense of our schedule while traveling. (One thing to note: the itinerary has a different departure time - we are confirmed to be flying at 3:30pm on flight 282)
Maps with locations on attached tourist documents marked can be viewed here:
Parent Meeting We will have a final meeting for parents (and students) at 5:30pm on Wednesday, July 18. Not a mandatory meeting, but a chance to go over the paperwork attached in this email and answer any questions you may still have. The meeting should end between 6:15 and 6:30.
We are getting close, and I think we are all getting real excited for the trip.
Thank you for the continued support.
Good evening all -
I know I had hoped to meet with all students at lunch this week, but unfortunately I have been called into another WASC meeting Wednesday, so I have to push the LAMDA meeting from Wednesday to Thursday. So, no AHSTF (Scotland) meeting this week :(
Enough with lunchtime acronyms, some business for you all.
Lots of great stuff happening and we aren’t even at Spring Break!
Thank you and see you this weekend at Heathers. Let me know if you are unable to join us for the lunch meeting next Thursday in S20.
Scotland - January Update
I believe that we have a final number in for our trip (assuming that airfare doesn’t fluctuate too much).
Total cost per participant is $6,880. This includes our departure for London on July 27, transfer to Edinburgh on July 31 and departure from Edinburgh on August 10.
If you have not yet made your January $1,000 payment, please do so as soon as possible. Checks made payable to PVPHS Drama Boosters
In the next week or so, I should have our rehearsal schedule for the production locked in and ready to send out. I need to confirm a couple of things before I can finalize everything.
Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
July Update and Info from AHSTF
We are confirmed to be on AHSTF Tour Session 1. While that does not include exact dates just yet I can say that in 2015, that meant a July 31 departure and an August 14 return.
If you have not yet sent in your initial $150 deposit but are still interested in the trip, please let me know. It is not too late to get in on the excitement! If you are still on the fence, don’t hesitate to email me with any questions you may have.

Additional Online Fundraising:
“AHSTF participants have long told us that the most effective way to raise money is to ask a lot of people! For years, AHSTF groups have sent request letters to family and friends. While this is effective, it takes time (and money) to customize letters and mail them, and then requires even more effort from donors to fill out a form, write a check, and remember to mail it in. People are busy and requests get forgotten! With that we would like to offer our online fundraising tool that instantly generates colorful requests that are electronically sent to prospective donors. The best part is, with a few clicks, donors can make a donation in a matter of minutes.”
Send out as many gift or performance requests as you can! Send it to family and friends and relatives. Many of our performers have raised hundreds of dollars towards their individual trip payments through this method. Here’s how:
Step One: Visit www.ahstf.org and click on the Gift of Performance tab, on the right side of the screen.
Step Two: Follow the directions listed. (Your trip ID number is: 146057)
NOTE: Gift of Performance can also be used to make deposits for the trip. Simply have a parent send the e-card to themselves and you will be able to make payments for your participation.
If you have not yet sent in your initial $150 deposit but are still interested in the trip, please let me know. It is not too late to get in on the excitement!
