ABOUT OUR TEAM
Welcome 2021 Boys Tennis Fans! We are planning on having a Spring season, with matches. We are waiting on news from CIF, so stay tuned. Our Boys Team has experienced eye-popping success in the last few years. We were the CIF Division 1 Champions in 2016 and State Runner-Up in 2018. We’ve had individual success, too Connor Hance, CIF Individual Runner Up, 2017 Louis DeWitt-Hoeger and William Mori, CIF Doubles Semi-Finalist, 2017 Sahm Irvine, CIF Individual Runner UP, 2018 Stetson Martz and Nabeel Khan, CIF Doubles Semi-Finalist, 2019.
We have 60 tennis players in the program – possibly the biggest in the state – with talent up and down the teams. All three teams, no doubt, will have winning records. All players, more importantly, will come away with lasting memories.
PHILOSOPHY
We want all players to have a positive experience, to relish competition, and cherish the camaraderie of being a part of a team. We want to have fun, but as athletes, we want to win – win with good sportsmanship. Setting personal and team goals of improving both our tennis skills and our mental focus will ultimately result in more wins. We recognize that players are students first, and we try to accommodate school-related academic conflicts, but we value team commitment.
A belated congratulations to Sean Ferguson (pictured) who was a CIF Singles Finalist last May, joining three other esteemed Peninsula players who reached the finals: Loren Peters '93, Connor Hance '17, Sahm Irvine '18. Sean also was the school Athlete of the Year and is playing for Cal Poly SLO as a freshman. Two other '23 grads, Chris Koeberle (also at SLO) and Takehiro Shuda (Tufts) are playing as freshman in college.
