GENERAL

LAST DAY OF SENIOR WEEK

This is it, senior Panthers! Wear your senior shirts and come to the amphitheater at lunch to get your can of Orange Crush soda. After school, stop by Raising Cane for a class fund raiser.

 

EARLY BAND DISMISSAL

Please excuse all band members at 9:15 am today for their festival competition.

 

UPDATE FROM OFFICER ROZAS

Peninsula’s school resource officer, David Rozas, wants students to be aware that parking in the student lot without a current pass is prohibited and you will be cited. If you are using the crosswalks on Silver Spur and Hawthorne, stay within the marked boundaries and pay attention to traffic, not your phone.

 

ORCHESTRA SPRING CONCERT

Celebrate the spring season with the annual concert performed by Pen’s orchestras TONIGHT at 7:30 pm at St, Francis Episcopal Church. You’ll enjoy a wide variety of music and have a chance to listen to our talented musicians. Students are free and adults $20 at the door.

 

EARTH DAY

Celebrate Earth Day TODAY at the library where seed bombs will be planted, you can take the water pledge and enter the raffle to win a hydro flask. Mayor Pro Tem Alegria will also attend to introduce the new green technologies used by and planned for the city.

 

BAND FUNDRAISER

If you like Panda Express, plan now to order online TODAY. It is an online promotion only, but that means friends and family back East may also order and Peninsula’s band benefits. Use the code 921781 when you place your order at pandaexpress.com.

 

SENIOR OBLIGATIONS

If you are a senior and expect to graduate with your classmates, be sure to check the lists for outstanding obligations posted in front of the Attendance Office as well as the library. Seniors with unpaid obligations will not be able to get a yearbook or tickets to graduation. All obligations must be cleared by Friday, May 24.

 

LINK CREW INTERVIEWS

All students who turned in a Link Crew application should have received a slip in your fourth period class indicating the day and time for your interview next week starting Monday, Apr. 29. If you did not receive a slip or have any questions, see Ms. Dibble in P103 ASAP.

 

STRESS AWARENESS

April has been named Stress Awareness Month to bring attention to the negative impact of stress. Knowing how to manage stress can improve your physical and mental well-being. For more information, click here.

 

YEARBOOK PRE-ORDERS CLOSED

Yearbooks are no longer available for sale. There are lists posted on the windows of Attendance and the Student Store of students who did purchase a yearbook. On distribution day, May 30, a limited number of yearbooks may be purchased for $140 cash only. There are no yearbooks for sale before May 30.  Email [email protected] with questions.

 

SLL LEADERSHIP CLASS

Attention changemakers! Are you interested in making our school, community and world a better place? Apply for the Service Learning Leadership class and be part of the planning for Walk for Life, Willenberg, the food drive and more. This is a UC approved elective that teaches leadership skills. Deadline to apply is Friday, May 3. Click here for the application or pick up one in the North Dance Room. Stop by to see Ms. Myrick if you have any questions.

 

NHS TUTORS

Everyone needs help with schoolwork now and again, so members of Pen’s National Honor Society are offering free after school tutoring for students grades 9 to 11. NHS can provide up to two hours per month of tutoring per student. Click here and go to the “request a tutor” tab. Fill out the Google form and submit. You will be contacted as soon as a tutor is obtained and available. There is also tutoring most school days during lunch in the library on a drop in basis.

 

V.E.X. ROBOTICS

If you are interested in robots and coding, come to the VEX Robotics open house TOMORROW, April 27 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in T106. VEX combines mechanical engineering, programming and documentation to promote teamwork and learning. Applications for next year will be available and food provided. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The Little Renegades Academy, a youth-led nonprofit, is looking for freshmen or sophomores interested in filling the positions of Associate Director, Director of Media and Director of Outreach.  FREE FOOD

Don’t forget that Pen offers free breakfasts and lunches to students all year long. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria from 6:30 to 8:30 am as well as during Panther Time at the snack shack and cafeteria. Free lunches are offered at the cafeteria, snack shack and the outside cart. If you want to buy food or snacks, remember Pen’s food service is cashless, so be sure to have money loaded on your Titan account.

 

COUNSELING

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP

The SAGE therapists at Pen are hosting the monthly virtual parent support group on Friday, May 3 from 12:45 to 1:30 pm. Students from Pen and PV High will share helpful tips they have learned. Email [email protected] for the Zoom link.

 

FREE COLLEGE CREDIT

You can earn college credit this summer while completing your high school graduation requirements. Harbor College offers Peninsula students an opportunity to reserve seats in some of their online classes at no additional cost. You will have a chance to meet with Harbor representatives prior to the start of the classes to ask questions and ensure you have completed all the steps necessary for enrollment. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to further your post-Peninsula education. Come to the Counseling Office and pick up the Harbor College Dual Enrollment form to get started.

SENIOR ACTIVITY & SURVEY

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Be sure to complete the senior year end activity and senior survey on SchooLinks so you can share your plans for next year. This is also where you request your final transcript and approval to be included in senior destinations. Click here for directions with the deadline for responses Wednesday, May 15. Please dismiss all varsity boys’ lacrosse players at 1:30 pm today for their last game of the regular season at Oaks Christian.

Please excuse the JV baseball players at the beginning of fifth period today for their game.

 

EARLY DISMISSAL: SWIM

Please dismiss the varsity and JV swim team members at 11:00 am today for their Bay League finals at Santa Monica.

 

COED CHOREO AUDITIONS

Are you a male or female dancer who wants to train, progress and grow? Auditions for Coed Choreo will be the week of April 29 to May 3. If you want to be a part of Pen’s award winning, competitive dance team, fill out the online registration form on Pen’s website under the Athletics tab.

 

GIRLS’ FLAG FOOTBALL TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the girls’ flag football team are Thursday, May 2 at 3:00 pm on the stadium field. Participants must bring proof of a current sports physical. Contact Coach Daley at [email protected] with questions.
