Chemistry 1 (Period 2) Assignments

Instructor
Melissa Grace Klose
Term
Fall 2017
Department
Science and Engineering
Description
Welcome, Chemists! This course will focus on the building blocks of all matter, and the changes those atoms and molecules undergo to help explain natural and biological phenomena. You will also learn how scientists work, using the scientific method, strengthening our problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

This Chemistry class is mostly student-guided and focused on student exploration and discovery throughout the content. My role is to facilitate your understanding of material through your own exploration. Many times, I will not just give the answer or the formula or the method to you, and instead ask you to develop your own. I believe this allows you to grow as a “scientist.” Do not expect to do many notes or reading out of a textbook. Instead, be prepared to work everyday in class, whether it be on a lab, writing, or developing solutions to a problem.
