New Student Events & Information

Scheduling for Private School Students

Scheduling for incoming students from private schools and out of district schools will be on campus by appointment in April 2026. These students must have already completed the enrollment process with our registrar Daniel Cordova (more information on enrolling can be found HERE).

Registration

All Peninsula students must go through Registration at the start of the school year. During Registration, students will come to the gym to turn in several required forms and get their id cards and books, and come to counseling if there are any scheduling issues. More information about Registration Day will be mailed home in July.

Orientation

All  Freshmen and incoming transfer students are invited to Orientation - a fun filled morning providing new students with important information about our campus. This event is run by our Link Crew leadership group. Orientation usually takes place the day after Registration Day in mid August.

First Day of School

The first day of school is  Wednesday, August 26, 2026. It will be a minimum day schedule.

Request for Placement

The deadline to submit a Request for Placement form passed on May 15, 2026.  Please email your child's counselor with any questions or concerns.

Important - Recommended Course Sequence: The school’s designated course sequence is carefully designed based on the foundational skills required for student success. Deviating from this sequence is highly discouraged and should only be considered in rare circumstances. Following the recommended prerequisites is the best predictor of student achievement and long-term academic success. Please see the Course Description Handbook to find prerequisites.

Out of District Course Application (Summer School 2026)

The deadline to request approval for a summer school course passed on May 15, 2026.  Please email your child’s counselor with any questions/concerns.

For students who have been approved to take a summer school course, make sure to enroll directly through the outside organization.  The information below will explain the process of transferring the course/grade over to Peninsula High School.

After Completion of Summer School Courses

  • All summer courses must be completed BEFORE the start of the Fall 2026 semester
  • After completing the course, you must contact the outside organization to make a request for the official transcript to be sent to our registrar (Daniel Cordova) at [email protected]
  • Please note that the official transcript must be emailed directly from the outside organization before classes begin in August
  • Students enrolled in Palos Verdes Peninsula Summer School (PVPSS) do not need to request an official transcript, as PVPSS will send the transcript automatically after the course has been completed
  • If you do not complete the course, please notify your counselor before classes begin in August

Eligibility & Policies

  • Students may take up to 8 semesters (4 yearlong classes) outside of PVPUSD, with no more than 4 semesters (2 yearlong) per academic discipline
  • Max of 2 Mathematics semesters (1 yearlong class), and Algebra 1 must be taken through PVPUSD
  • English must be taken through PVPUSD
  • Honors and AP courses taken outside the district do not receive a weighted GPA

Course Change Requests

The deadline to make a course change request passed on May 15, 2026.  You will have an opportunity to make certain revisions to your schedule the week before school begins in August.  Details regarding this process will be sent over the summer.

During the summer, requests to change a course due to a graduation requirement or summer school issue must be submitted via email to Dr. Jennifer Panagos, Associate Principal, at [email protected]. All other course request changes must wait until after registration in August. Please note that any requests made over the summer will be contingent on space availability.
